Singer, guitarist and songwriter, Mat Nao plays roots rock steeped in blues and soul. A path that starts in Bordeaux, runs through Australia and carries on today on the road.
BORDEAUX
Mat Nao comes from the rock and soul of 1960s and 70s America. He picked up a guitar early on.
The cobblestone streets, the sea air and the bars of Bordeaux shaped his first musical experiences, which were just waiting to travel.
AUSTRALIA
He left for Australia in search of the perfect sound. The adventure lasted five years, during which he turned professional and made a living from his music for the first time.
There he founded Nimeo, a French-Australian band active from 2007 to 2014. The project released two EPs and an album and played concerts and festivals across Australia and Europe. Alongside this, Mat Nao composed music for Australian documentaries.

From France to Asia, Mat Nao draws inspiration from the world and from travel, and wherever he goes, the stage follows.
His music blends 70s rock, blues and soul: an enchanting voice over a roots sound, stripped-back and groovy. His new single, Have You Seen the World Lately, is out on 25 September 2026.
